B2B Commerce Migration
Migrated a musical-instrument e-commerce company's B2B commerce platform from Elastic to Shopify, to close the gap between DTC and B2B operations.
Context
The company's B2B commerce previously ran on Elastic, separate from its Shopify-based direct-to-consumer storefront. Managing product information across that setup created friction: product data had to be correctly formatted and uploaded into NetSuite, and keeping it synchronized with the Elastic platform could be unreliable. Earlier in this work, Micah collaborated with another team member on that product-data process.
Because the company's primary e-commerce site already runs on Shopify, moving B2B commerce onto Shopify as well offered a chance to close the gap between the two environments and enable faster turnaround on product updates.
Role
When the Shopify B2B migration began, Micah took on end-to-end delivery responsibility for the project — understanding the business requirements, scoping the work, securing the time and resources to execute it, and bringing in additional technical help where needed. His role spanned Shopify B2B implementation, coordinating the NetSuite/Celigo integration work, troubleshooting, testing, and rollout.
This is best described as technical ownership and implementation leadership. The division of implementation work with the additional engineer brought onto the project is not itemized here, so specific integration flows or tasks should not be read as work performed solely by Micah.
Approach
The migration moved B2B commerce onto the same Shopify environment as the company's DTC storefront, using Shopify's B2B functionality alongside the existing Celigo-based integration layer that already connects Shopify to NetSuite — rather than maintaining a second, separate commerce system.
Status
This migration is complete. B2B commerce now runs on the same Shopify environment as the company's DTC storefront.
